Online Learning Tools

GroundTruth co-developed a set of tools for citizen science-based monitoring of water systems, these tools included miniSASS, the Clarity Tube, the Transparent Velocity Head Rod (velocity plank), the Riparian Health Audit (RHA), the Wetland Assessment Tool (miniWET-Health), the Spring Tool, the Estuarine Tool, a Weather monitoring tool, School Lesson plans, and a Climate Change Education Game (Enviro-Picture building game). In partnership with the Water Research Commission (WRC), online learning materials were developed for these tools, and for other tools, including iNaturalist, an E. coli water test, and the Dragonfly Biotic Index (DBI). We undertook research to co-develop a best practice guide to assist others in facilitating online citizen science learning.

We would like to track how these tools are being used and what their reach is so we have added a short survey to collect some information before you are granted access to the content. Please note that we are collecting these data purely for research purposes. Your personal information will be protected in alignment with the POPI Act and GDPR compliance. No contact details will be shared with any other parties and you will not receive any communication from us as a result of filling out the form. If you would like to have access to these free online learning tools, please click on the “Apply for access” button below.
